Santa Croce Basilica

The 13th century Santa Croce Basilica lies east of central Florence and is famous for the Giotto frescoes and for the tombs of some of Florence's most famous sons.

They include the master painter and sculptor Michelangelo, the scientist and astronomer Galileo and the philosopher, musician, poet, Machiavelli.
